ASDA Cannock customers urged to 'Choose Well' this weekend

Visitors to ASDA Cannock this Saturday will be handed the information they need to 'choose well' in the future when it comes to selecting the most appropriate healthcare service when they are unwell.

The superstore's Community Champion Debbie Blair, working alongside Cannock Chase Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation responsible for buying healthcare services in the area, to promote the Choose Well campaign, which aims to arm the public with all the information they need to make the best decisions about their healthcare.

Dr Johnny McMahon, chair or Cannock Chase CCG, said: "People often don't realise how many alternatives are available to them when they're unwell and need healthcare.

"Choose Well is about telling them about services like the NHS 111 number, a non-emergency phone number manned by trained professionals who can tell them where to go when they are unwell but unsure of how to get the care they need," said Dr McMahon.

"A lot of people don't realise the help and support they can get from their local pharmacist - who can often provide help with things like diarrhoea, a runny nose or a headache – or their own GP or Out of Hours service who can help with things like ear pain, back ache or a throat infection.

"Then there's the Minor Injuries Unit, the perfect place to go if you have a strain, a sprain, if you have been burnt or if you have stitches you need replacing."

Members of the public who attend on the day will be given a Choose Well pack with handy advice and guidance of the best way to get the healthcare they need, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
