Governing Body Meetings
A meeting held in public is a meeting between members of a group or committee where members of the public are invited to attend and listen. A public meeting is a meeting where anyone who attends can participate in the discussion.
The prime function of the Governing Body meetings is to conduct the business of the Clinical Commissioning Group. We hold our meetings in public to ensure we behave in a way that is both open and transparent. Members of the public are invited to ask questions of clarification relating directly to the agenda to support understanding at the end of the meeting. This also ensures that, in addition to receiving information from the Commissioning Patient Council, the Governing Body continue to engage with, and involve, the public.
If you are unable to attend the Governing Body meetings but would like to ask the CCG a question, you can submit them in writing to Cannock Chase CCG, Number 2 Staffordshire Place Stafford ST16 2LP or via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Submitted questions will be raised at the end of the meeting and the responses will be included in the minutes.
The six Governing Bodies across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have agreed to meet in common in order to make strategic decisions that affect the whole population. The locations of these meetings have been spread across the county in order to offer access for everyone interested in attending. The meetings held in public will be alternated with confidential and Organisational Development meetings for Governing Body members to more effectively understand and work towards meeting patient needs in a rapidly changing landscape.
Papers for the meetings held in public will be available a week before the meeting. We hope you can join us to witness public decision making in action and you will be able to ask up to three questions at the end of the meeting.
We understand that this offers fewer meetings for people to attend, however, as discussion about local health needs and how are to be met will take place at the new Divisional Committees, we are making plans to also hold these in public. In addition, we are exploring how we could better make use of digital technology to extend the meetings in public to an online audience. A structure of the CCGs' formal committees that feed into the Governing Body meetings can be found spreadsheet here (21 KB) .
Our Primary Care Commissioning Committees are also held in public in three areas across the county each month. This is where Governing Body members consider and make decisions about General Practice.
Confidential Agenda
There is a confidential section to the Governing Body agenda, either before or after the main body of the meeting. The CCG aims to discuss as much as possible during the open meeting, however there are some items that need to be discussed in private such as those which may be commercially or patient sensitive.
Please Confirm your Attendance
Members of the public are invited to attend meetings but are asked to confirm attendance prior to the meeting.
